well it depends on how you do it, and how long you are willing to take doing it, i usually do it on photoshop. and cut out the linework, then blacken it, but this can take hours, now if u have a wacom tablet its so much easyer..

Doing line art with a mouse takes a VERY long time, and it's almost a 2 hand job., I agree with fitzy with the tablet, but you can pick any brand. As for the colouring, LOTS of layers, and I mean lots, ie 1 line art, 1 solid colour, 1 cell shaded, 1 blending, 1 shadow, 1 highlights, like 3 metallic and more depending on how far you want to go (background, 3D etc.) That's 8 layers and thats only 1 person. So yeah, personally I think digital colouring takes longer but looks better (sometimes)

Personaly, i usualy use about 4 to 6 layers, since i condensate most effects in one or two layers. Still special effects, hair, detail and all that can take me a whole day. I wake up at 9 am and finish a work around 2 pm. So it is VERY time consuming, even with a tablet. I worked with mouse before, and it even has its advantiges, tho im still a n00b with colouring and lineart via photoshop in manga style. Still get the job done...

I don't have a tablet, but I like using my G5 mouse, cause I can change the speed to so slow I can be very accurate.
