Hello everyone. I am curently inside an internet cafe typing on the worst keyboard I have ever used. I Can not type very fast and keep making too many mistakes but I will do my best.
So far it has been really good. Once you get over the language barrier it isnt so bad. I deal with it by saying "SumimasenĀh to everyone who speaks to me and respond with random hand gestures. I had to create a new account to write this because I forgot my login details. ><
The food is nice but ordering it is like trying to fly a plane so I may just stick with room service in the hotel.
Tokyo is so vast it is split into huge sections. Nearly all of them are mixed with the same stuff but some have defining features. Akihabara for example is Arcades and Manga shops and Ueno is temples and shrines. It is not a place you want to take the wrong turn in though because nearlly every second shop here is a Porn house. At night certain zones becomne rather seedy and the nicely dressed women should be avoided at all costs. That is not to say Tokyo is not a bad place. It is an amazing city and it is certainly a "cute" city.
I have learned the true ways of manga here and I can tell you it has changed my view entirely. Probably for the worse but never mind. I will be back in the UK in just over a week and will report the rest of my findings then.
Hope you are all well and drawing daily. Cya!

Problem with the manga is that manga sex books and manga porn are 2 entirely different things here. Westerners cannot tell the difference at all and we never will.
So basically when going into Mandarake (huge Manga, anime and all manor of weirdness shop) you do not know if you are going to be walking down the male, girl on girl or the general hentai people will frown at you for looking at. Basically you are ethier looking at a book with breastses in or a book with breastses in.
It is an impossible task for us to tell the difference and since 90% of manga books have breasts in it can get confusing.
On another note I went to a proper Sushi bar yesturday. Some random japanese guy spotted me needing help finding food and offered to show me a place. I did not want to offend so I said thanks for directions and offered if he wanted to join. He joined us (my brother and I) too which helped a lot since everyone was shouting random japanese our way.
Sushi bars are like Russian rullet. . Any moment you could pick up the one that tastes like the back end of a horse. I got that one and as if by magic was no longer hungry.
Tokyo is great but there is only so much you can do if you are male. Women shops are everywhere and unless you like the David Bowie look (everyone here does) you will not find much here to buy.
The more traditional Japanese areas of Tokyo like Ueno are beautiful though.
Found a massive bookshop with a corner devoted to concept art of the games so I am in to concept art of the games so I am in heaven there. I love the japanese concept art, a mix of manga and realism, awesome.
May be the last time I come on the internet until next wednesday so enjoy your week.
Dan

I have another day to myself so I thought I`d come here and share a bit more. Alas, I knew the moment would come. A moment when I buy something that is "too" rude. In my defence it is an official artbook and it was the creators that got too randy with their ideas.
Basically I went back to the bookshop for more artwork goodness. I came accross the artwork for a popular RPG and since I`d already ruined the shelf display by taking it out I thought I`d get it. I got back to the hotel and looked through my books of awesomeness. I was always a bit suspicious of the RPG book because the usually a fully dressed manga girl on the front implies, "open me and my close fall off!".
It came to the book and I began looking. It was actually going very well, character illustrations, story design etc. Then I got to the centre of the book and was struck by 20 pages of filth. I don`t mean a few genitles here and there I mean real filth. I`ve seen it all in my time but this was just distasteful. The book was doing so well too. After the huge middle section was over it went back to a fluffy book about the art of the game.
Seriously, some illustrators over here need a good slap. First thing I am doing when I get back is dispossing of that middle section. I can laugh about it now but it`s just wrong. No book should be half informative with a hint of hentai to burn the innocence from your eyes.
Hopefully this is the last of my adventures into the underground Tokyo.
Don`t worry, it isn`t all rude stuff here. I won`t go into futher detail otherwise I may crush the innocent views of the young wanting to come here some day.
The other day I discovered a local shop sells biscuits! 2 weeks of proper food and suddenly we found the Holy Grail of shops. Chocolate, strawberry and cream! I saw a huge cake rack too but held back.
Not looking forward to the journey back. Going to be 2-3 hours longer because I have to hang around in germany longer this way. I love plane journeys but they can just be too long sometimes.

It was a 16 hour trip not including a 1.5 hour coach trip to the airport and then the drive back home. I got severe jetlag last night and still not feeling great. It really hits you hard and wasn't the nicest of experiences.
Doesn't help I return to my night shift job tonight.
